In 2015 I barely survived a near fatal car accident. While recovering in a hospital from a coma and a traumatic brain injury, I scribbled a curious note down which I recovered years later. It read, "This place reminds me of a zoo full of mirrors." The note and thought inspired this song.
lyrics
amid the mirrors in my zoo
I’m having trouble finding you
my castle’s slipping on it’s glue
my memory is slipping
i’m craning my neck
to hear ya
I’m squinting my eyes to see ya
I'm accepting the pain of knowing you
I find I’m most the time confused
it’s hard to know the things I’m losing
a failure full of old excuses
my half full glass is tipping
I’m craning my neck
to hear ya
I’m squinting my eyes to see ya
i’m choosing the pain of knowing you
far beyond my understanding
a most perfect peace will find its way
I'm resting in peace
I'm finding you
